Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná
  2. Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar

✧ Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yazīd b. Abī Ziyād, from Zayd b. Wahb, from a man, from the Prophet ﷺ, similar to the ḥadīth of Jarīr. We do not know this statement to be narrated except from Abū Dharr, nor do we know for it a path other than this path. The hyena is the year (i.e., famine), so they complained to him of the severity of the year's hardship.
