حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ قَالَ: نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، مَوْلَى آلِ مَنْظُورٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ:

خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَانْقَطَعَ شِسْعُهُ فَأَخَذْتُ نَعْلَهُ لِأُصْلِحَهَا فَأَخَذَهَا مِنْ يَدِي، وَقَالَ: إِنَّهَا أَثَرَةٌ، وَلَا أُحِبُّ الْأَثَرَةَ

✧ I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the mosque, and his sandal strap broke. I took his sandal to repair it, but he took it from my hand and said, “That would be a form of self-preference, and I do not like self-preference.”
