✧ We were with Fadalah b. Ubayd at sea, and a necklace containing unrefined gold and pearls, or gems, fell to me and my companions. They said: "Buy it from us, and we will give you a good price." I said: "Not until I ask Fadalah b. Ubayd." So I went to Fadalah and asked him. Fadalah said: "I bought a necklace on the day of Khaybar containing unrefined gold and gems for seven or nine dinars, and I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it. He said to me: 'Separate it: remove the gems, and buy the unrefined gold with unrefined gold, like for like.'"
