وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ قَالَ: نَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، وَالْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ
أَنَّهُ مَرَّ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ وَرَجُلٌ يَقْرَأُ فَجَعَلَ يَتَسَمَّعُ لِقِرَاءَتِهِ فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ يَدْعُو قَالَ: سَلْ تُعْطَ

✧ He passed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night while a man was reciting, and he began listening to his recitation. When he sat down supplicating, he said: 'Ask and you will be given.'
