حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو، نَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، نَا أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
خَيْرُ النَّاسِ - أَوْ خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ - الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ يَنْشَأُ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ وَيَنْذِرُونَ وَلَا يُوفُونَ وَيَفْشُو بَيْنَهُمُ السِّمَنُ
Translation

✧ The best of people — or the best of this Ummah — is the generation in which I was sent, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will arise a people who testify though they are not asked to testify, who make vows but do not fulfill them, and among whom obesity spreads.
