machine translationḤusayn al-Muʿallim narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. Muʿādh b. Muʿādh narrated it from Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim, from Ibn Buraydah, from ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he erred in it. But ʿAbd al-Wahhāb b. ʿAṭāʾ, Rawḥ b. ʿUbādah and others narrated it from Ḥusayn, from Ibn Buraydah, from ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, and that is the correct version, within a long account.

  • Bazzār

machine translationWe do not know this statement except from ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, may God be pleased with him. They differed about whether it is traced back (marfūʿ) to the Prophet from ʿUmar, so we mentioned it from ʿImrān since there is disagreement about its being traced back from ʿUmar. The chain of ʿUmar is a sound (ṣāliḥ) chain, so we transmitted it from ʿUmar and repeated it from ʿImrān because of the goodness of ʿImrān's chain.
