✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ؓ قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ، إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَجَعَلَا يُعَرِّضَانِ بِالْعَمَلِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ أَخْوَنَكُمْ عِنْدِي مَنْ طَلَبَهُ، فَمَا اسْتَعْمَلَهُمَا عَلَى شَيْءٍ.

✧ Two men from the Ashʿarīs came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and began to hint at wanting to be appointed to positions. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "The most treacherous of you in my sight is the one who seeks it." So he did not appoint them to anything.
