✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sent me and Muʿādh b. Jabal to Yemen, sending each of us to a separate district. He said: "Make things easy and do not make them difficult; give good tidings and do not repel." Each of them went off to his assignment. Whenever one of them needed something from his companion, he would come to him, greet him, and renew his covenant with him. Muʿādh drew near to Abū Mūsā, riding his mule until he stopped at his place. There he found a man whose hands were bound to his neck. He said to Abū Mūsā: "What is this?" He replied: "This is a man who apostatized from Islam, or disbelieved after his Islam." Muʿādh said: "I will not dismount until he is killed." So the man was killed, then Muʿādh dismounted.
