أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيُّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ؓ قَالَ:

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَلَمَّا سِرْتُ أَرْسَلَ فِي أَثَرِي قَالَ: فَرُدِدْتُ، فَقَالَ: تَدْرِي لِمَ بَعَثْتُ إِلَيْكَ ؟ لَا تُصِيبَنَّ شَيْئًا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ فَإِنَّهُ غُلُولٌ، وَمَنْ يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِهَذَا دَعَوْتُكَ امْضِ إِلَى عَمَلِكَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Yemen. When I had set out, he sent after me, and I was brought back. He said: Do you know why I sent for you? Do not take anything without knowledge, for it is embezzlement, and whoever embezzles will come with what he embezzled on the Day of Resurrection. For this I called you; go on to your work.
