حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ذَوَّادُ بْنُ عُلْبَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَرْبِيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

" يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ، وَاخْتَلَفُوا فَصَارُوا هَكَذَا، وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ "، قَالَ: فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: " خُذْ - أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ - مَا عَرَفْتَ وَدَعْ مَا أَنْكَرْتَ، وَعَلَيْكَ بِخُوَيِّصَتِكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَوَامَّهُمْ

✧ 'O Abdullah b. Amr, how will you be when you remain among the dregs of people whose covenants and trusts have become disordered, and they have differed and become thus?'—and he interlaced his fingers. He said: 'What should I do, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Take—I think he said—what you recognize and leave what you reject, and keep to your private affairs and beware of their common folk.'
