حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءَ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَهِيِّ، مَوْلَى الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَمَرْوَانُ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ: وَاللهِ مَا اسْتَخْلَفَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ، فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ: أَنْتَ الَّذِي نَزَلَتْ فِيكَ: وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَكُمَا؛ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: كَذَبْتَ، وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَعَنَ أَبَاكَ

Translation

✧ I was in the mosque while Marwan was delivering a sermon. Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr said: "By God, he did not appoint anyone from his family as successor." Marwan said: "You are the one about whom it was revealed: 'And the one who said to his parents, Uff to you both.'" Abd al-Rahman said: "You lied. Rather, the Messenger of God ﷺ cursed your father."
