✧ My father went out on a military campaign and left us only a ewe. He said to us: “When you want to milk her, bring her to the people of the Suffah.” So I went with her, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He took her and embraced her—or held her between his legs—and milked a full bowl. Then he said: “Go and bring me the largest vessel you have.” I found nothing but the large wooden dish in which dough is kneaded—I think she said:—and he milked until he filled it. Then he said: “Go, drink, and give drink to your neighbors. And when you want to milk her, bring her to me.” We became prosperous until my father arrived, and my father took her and embraced her and held her between his legs, and she returned to her original milk. My mother said to him: “You have spoiled our ewe for us. She used to milk a full dish like this.” He said: “Who used to milk her?” She said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” He said: “Do you want from me the blessing of the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is greater in blessing than my hands.”
