حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقُطَعِيُّ، قَالَ نَصْرٌ: أَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ، وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى: نَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ: نَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ الْمُعْتَمِرِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَعْنِي أَبَا الضُّحَى قَالَ:

كُنْتُ مَعَ مَسْرُوقٍ فِي بَيْتٍ فِيهِ تِمْثَالُ مَرْيَمَ فَقَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ: هَذَا تِمْثَالُ كِسْرَى؟ قُلْتُ: لَا، وَلَكِنْ تِمْثَالُ مَرْيَمَ، فَقَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ

✧ I was with Masruq in a house containing an image of Mary, and Masruq said: 'Is this an image of Kisra?' I said: 'No, rather it is an image of Mary.' Masruq said: 'I heard 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection are the image-makers.'
