  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationDāwūd b. Abī Hind narrates it from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh; a group of Kufans and Basrans narrated it from him. The Basrans made the words "and they asked him for provision" to the end of the hadith the statement of al-Shaʿbī, as a mursal report. As for Yaḥyā b. Abī Zāʾidah and others of the Kufans, they inserted it (idrāj) into the hadith of Ibn Masʿūd from the Prophet ﷺ. The correct view is that of those who separated it, for it is the speech of al-Shaʿbī as a mursal report.

  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationThe narration of Ismāʿīl seems more sound (aṣaḥḥ) than the narration of Ḥafṣ b. Ghiyāth.
