✧ Abdullah was teaching a man the tashahhud and said: 'All greetings, prayers, and good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' Abdullah repeated it to him several times, each time saying: 'And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger,' while the man said: 'And that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' Abdullah said: 'Thus we were taught.'

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIbn ʿAwn narrated it from Ibrāhīm al-Nakhaʿī, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbdullāh, raising it to the Prophet (marfūʿ); ʿUthmān b. al-Haytham al-Muʾadhdhin narrated it thus from Ibn ʿAwn. Sālim b. Nūḥ also narrated it from Ibn ʿAwn, inclining toward raising it as well, and he said in it: ʿAbdullāh said: "Thus we were taught." And al-Naḍr b. Shumayl narrated it from Ibn ʿAwn as a statement stopping at Ibn Masʿūd (mawqūf), and that is the correct form of Ibn ʿAwn's narration.
