✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when the polytheists said, "Look, he draws these close to him and not us." And I, Abdullah b. Mas'ud, a man from Hudhayl, and two men whose names I have forgotten were present. This distressed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he spoke to himself about it. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted, revealed: And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face... up to: Thus We have tried some of them by others.
