حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ: نَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا:

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ، وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا نَوًى أَوْ حَصًى تُسَبِّحُ بِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا أُخْبِرُكِ بِمَا هُوَ أَيْسَرُ عَلَيْكِ مِنْ هَذَا أَوْ أَفْضَلُ "، قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: " قُولِي سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ فِي السَّمَاءِ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ فِي الْأَرْضِ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ كَمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ، وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ

Translation

✧ He entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon a woman, and in front of her were date stones or pebbles with which she was making tasbih. He said: "Shall I not inform you of what is easier for you than this or better?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Say: 'Subhan Allah' as many as what He created in the heaven, and 'Subhan Allah' as many as what He created in the earth, and 'Subhan Allah' as many as what is between that, and 'Subhan Allah' as He is worthy of it, and 'Allahu Akbar' the like of that, and 'La ilaha illa Allah' the like of that, and 'Alhamdulillah' the like of that, and 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' the like of that."
