✧ Someone came to him and said, "Your people have besieged this man," meaning ʿUthmān, and ʿUthmān was besieged in his house. He said, "What do you command me? Should I be one who draws the sword? By Allah, I will not do so until I am given a sword that, if I strike a believer with it, it will bounce off him, and if I strike an unbeliever with it, it will kill him. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Allah loves the wealthy, pious, and unassuming person.'"
