✧ I fell ill in Makkah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, supplicate Allah that He not turn me back on my heels.' He said: 'Perhaps Allah will raise you—meaning, restore you from your illness—and some people will benefit through you.' I said, 'I want to make a will, and I have only a daughter.' I said, 'Should I bequeath half?' He said, 'Half is a lot.' I said, 'Then a third?' He said, 'A third, and a third is a lot or large—Zakariyya was uncertain.' He said: 'So the people made bequests of a third, and that was permitted.'
