✧ A man said to Sa'd: 'What prevents you from reviling Ali?' He said: 'I will not revile him as long as I remember three things the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him. If he had said even one of them to me, it would be dearer to me than red camels.' A man said to him: 'What are they, O Abu Ishaq?' He said: 'I will not revile him as long as I remember when the revelation descended upon him, and he wrapped him along with his daughter Fatimah and his two sons under his garment, then said: "O Allah, these are my family and the people of my household." And I will not revile him as long as I remember when he left him behind during a military expedition, and Ali said to him: "You have left me with the women and children." He said to him: "Are you not pleased that you are to me as Aaron was to Moses, except that there is no prophethood after me?" And I will not revile him as long as I remember the day of Khaybar, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I will surely give the banner tomorrow to a man whom Allah and His Messenger love, and Allah will grant victory at his hands." The people stretched their necks for it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Where is Ali?" They said: "There he is." He said: "Call him." They called him, and he spat in his eye, then gave him the banner, and Allah granted victory at his hands.' He said: 'By Allah, that man did not mention him with a single letter until he left Madinah.'
