حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ - وَاللَّفْظُ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ - قَالَا: نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

لَمَّا اشْتَدَّ وَجَعُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: ائْتُونِي بِدَوَاةٍ وَكَتِفٍ - أَوْ قِرْطَاسٍ - أَكْتُبُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ كِتَابًا لَا يَخْتَلِفُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ ". ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَعَاذَ اللهِ أَنْ يَخْتَلِفَ النَّاسُ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ

✧ When the pain of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became severe, he said: “Bring me an inkwell and a shoulder blade—or a sheet—so that I may write for Abu Bakr a document, after which the people will not differ concerning him.” Then he said: “Allah forbid that the people should differ concerning Abu Bakr.”
