One of the daughters of the Prophet ﷺ died, so he came to us and said: "Wash her with water and lote-leaves (sidr), and wash her an odd number of times: three, or five, or more than that if you see fit, and put camphor in the last washing, or something of camphor. When you have finished, inform me." She said: When we had finished, we informed him, so he threw us his waist-wrapper and said: "Wrap her in it, next to her skin." Umm ʿAṭiyyah said: So we braided her hair into three plaits, then we laid them behind her: the front lock and her two side plaits.
