In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī

machine translationIts chain of transmission (isnād) is extremely sound (ṣaḥīḥ).

  • Mubarakpūri

machine translational-Nawawī and others authenticated its chain (isnād). I say: in its chain is Abū ʿAbdillāh b. Fanjawayh al-Dīnawarī, and I have not found a biography for him. Whoever claims this report (athar) is authentic must establish that he is trustworthy (thiqah) and fit to be used as evidence. As for the statement of al-Nīmawī, "He was one of the great hadith scholars of his time, and someone like him is not to be questioned", it is not to be paid attention to, since merely being one of the great hadith scholars does not necessarily mean he is trustworthy (thiqah).
