ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān (may God be pleased with him) led the people in prayer while he was in a state of major ritual impurity (junub). When morning came, he looked at his garment and found a wet dream. He said: "By God, I have grown old; I see that I become junub and then I do not know." Then he repeated the prayer, and he did not order them to repeat it.
