Abū Mūsā led the people in prayer. When he sat, a man said: "The prayer has been joined with righteousness and zakāh." He said: When Abū Mūsā finished, he said: "Which of you said such and such a word?" The people were silent. Then he said: "Which of you said such and such a word?" The people were silent. So Abū Mūsā said: "O Ḥiṭṭān, perhaps you said it?" I said: "By God, I did not say it, and I feared that you would rebuke me for it." Then a man stood up and said: "I said it, and I intended nothing by it except good." Abū Mūsā said: "Do you not know how you should pray? Indeed the Messenger of God ﷺ addressed us and taught us our prayer, and explained to us our sunnah. He said: 'When you pray, straighten your rows. When he (the imam) says the takbīr, say the takbīr. When he says: {غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ}, say: Āmīn, and God will answer you. When he says the takbīr and bows, say the takbīr and bow, for the imam says the takbīr before you and rises before you.'" Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "So that makes up for that. And when he says: 'God hears whoever praises Him,' say: 'Our Lord, to You is the praise.' When it is the time of sitting, let the first thing he says be: 'All blessed, good and pure greetings are for God. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God. I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and His Messenger.'"
