Concerning "the seven oft-repeated verses", he said: It is the Opening of the Book (al-Fātiḥah). Ibn ʿAbbās recited it with: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, as seven verses. Ibn Jurayj said: I said to my father, "Did Saʿīd b. Jubayr inform you from Ibn ʿAbbās that he said: 'In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' is a verse from the Book of God?" He said: Yes. Then he said: Ibn ʿAbbās recited it with: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, in both rakʿahs together.
