Ibn Abī Mulaykah was asked about ablution (wuḍūʾ), and he said: I saw ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān ؓ being asked about ablution. He called for water, and the water vessel was brought. He tipped it over his right hand, then put it into the water, and rinsed his mouth three times and sniffed water into his nose three times. And he mentioned the hadith. At its end he said: This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution.
