( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالَا: ثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ:
أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ كَاتَبَ عَبْدًا لَهُ يُكَنَّى بِأَبِي أُمَيَّةَ فَجَاءَهُ بِنَجْمِهِ حِينَ حَلَّ فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِهِ فِي مُكَاتَبَتِكَ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَوْ تَرَكْتَهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرَ نَجْمٍ قَالَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَلَّا أُدْرِكَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ وَآتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللهِ الَّذِي آتَاكُمْ
