( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالَا: ثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَنْبَأَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَعْتَقْتُ غُلَامًا لِي وَجَعَلْتُهُ سَائِبَةً فَمَاتَ وَتَرَكَ مَالًا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْإِسْلَامِ لَا يُسَيِّبُونَ إِنَّمَا كَانَتْ تُسَيِّبُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَأَنْتَ وَارِثُهُ وَوَلِيُّ نِعْمَتِهِ فَإِنْ تَحَرَّجْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَدْنَاهُ نَجْعَلْهُ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ
