I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and with us was Wāʾil b. Ḥujr. A people who were enemies to him met him, and the people refused to swear an oath. So I stepped forward and swore that he was my brother. When we came to the Prophet ﷺ, I said: "O Messenger of Allah, the people refused to swear, and I stepped forward and swore that he was my brother." He said: "You have spoken truly; the Muslim is the brother of the Muslim."
