The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to perfect the ablution, and he forbade us (and I do not say he forbade you) from eating charity, and from breeding a donkey with a horse.

  • Mizzī

machine translationAttributing error (wahm) to al-Thawrī is questionable, for Ḥammād b. Salamah narrated it from Abū Jahḍam like the narration of al-Thawrī, and likewise Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā Ibn al-Ṭabbāʿ narrated it from Ḥammād b. Zayd.

  • Mizzī

machine translationThe ḥadīth of al-Thawrī is not preserved (ghayr maḥfūẓ).

  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThe ḥadīth of al-Thawrī is not preserved (ghayr maḥfūẓ); al-Thawrī made an error (wahm) in it.

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationAl-Thawrī said it thus in this chain: ʿUbayd Allāh. Likewise Ḥammād b. Salamah said it in what al-Ṭayālisī narrated from him. But it is actually ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbbās. Likewise Ḥammād b. Zayd, ʿAbd al-Wārith b. Saʿīd and Ismāʿīl Ibn ʿUliyyah narrated it from Abū Jahḍam. The ḥadīth of Sufyān is an error (wahm); al-Bukhārī and others said this.
