"Act upon the Qur'an: treat as lawful what it makes lawful and as forbidden what it forbids, follow it as a model, and do not disbelieve in any part of it. And whatever of it is unclear to you, refer it to God and to those of knowledge after me, so that they inform you of it. And believe in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms, and in what the prophets were given by their Lord. Let the Qur'an and the clarity it contains suffice you, for it is an intercessor whose intercession is accepted, and an adversary whose testimony is believed. Indeed, every verse has a light on the Day of Resurrection. And I was given Sūrat al-Baqarah from the first Remembrance, and I was given Ṭā Hā, the Ṭawāsīn and the Ḥawāmīm from the tablets of Mūsā, and I was given the Opening of the Book from beneath the Throne."
