I was (with ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd, when a son of his came, I think it was al-Qāsim, and he said:) "Did you get something of your need today?" Some of the people said: "What is his need?" He said: "I have not seen a boy who eats more of the dhabb (spiny-tailed lizard) than he." Some of the people said: "Is it not forbidden?" So he asked: "And what made it forbidden?" He said: "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not dislike it?" He said: "Does a man not dislike a thing without it being forbidden?"
