machine translationHe said: I heard Abū ʿAbdillāh say: Whoever calls the iqāmah in pairs, I do not blame him, and there is no harm in it. Abū ʿAbdillāh was asked: Is the hadith of Abū Maḥdhūrah sound? He said: As for me, I do not reject it. It was said to him: Does the hadith of Abū Maḥdhūrah not come after the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b. Zayd, since the hadith of Abū Maḥdhūrah is after the conquest of Mecca? He said: Did the Prophet ﷺ not return to Medina and confirm Bilāl on the adhān of ʿAbdullāh b. Zayd? Abū ʿUmar said: Reports have been narrated from the Prophet ﷺ for everything they said, but I disliked mentioning them for fear of causing boredom and length, and because of their fame in the books of the compilers, I was reluctant to cite them given their length. I have brought their meanings and the positions of the jurists on them, and success is with Allah. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal, Isḥāq b. Rāhawayh, al-Ṭabarī and Dāwūd held that it is permissible to say whatever has been narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on this, and they took it as permissibility and free choice. They said: All of it is permissible, because all of it is established from the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions acted on it after him.
