"Whoever commits a sin in this world and is punished for it, then Allah is too just to repeat His punishment upon His servants. And whoever commits a sin in this world and Allah conceals it for him and pardons him, then Allah is too generous to go back on something He has already pardoned."

machine translationAbū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq, al-Khalīl b. Murrah, al-Ḥakam b. ʿAbdullāh al-Naṣrī, Ḥafṣ b. Sulaymān, and Abū Ḥamzah al-Thumālī Thābit b. Abī Ṣafiyyah narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah, from ʿAlī. There is disagreement about Ḥafṣ b. Sulaymān and Abū Ḥamzah. It was said from Ḥafṣ, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAwn b. Abī Juḥayfah, from his father, from ʿAlī; this statement is an error (wahm) on the part of whoever said it, and the correct report is from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abī Sulaymān said, from Abū Ḥamzah al-Thumālī, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah, as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf); and its attribution to the Prophet (marfūʿ) is sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
