  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIt was narrated by ʿUbaydah b. al-Aswad and Saʿīd b. ʿĀmir from Ibn Abī ʿArūbah, from Qatādah, from Anas: that the Prophet ﷺ cut off [the hand]. Others narrate it from Saʿīd as: that Abū Bakr cut off [the hand]. Yaḥyā b. Abī Bukayr also narrated it from Shuʿbah, from Qatādah, from Anas as raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ). Likewise it was narrated from ʿAmr b. Marzūq, from Shuʿbah. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) report from Shuʿbah is stopped at the Companion (mawqūf). The correct report is from Qatādah, from Anas: that Abū Bakr cut off [the hand], not raised to the Prophet (ghayr marfūʿ).
