( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي، ثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أَنْبَأَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أَنْبَأَ الشَّافِعِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ مَالِكٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ:

أَنَّ رَجُلًا بِالشَّامِ وَجَدَ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلًا فَقَتَلَهُ - أَوْ قَتَلَهَا - فَكَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ بِأَنْ يَسْأَلَ لَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ عَلِيًّا، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ: إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ مَا هُوَ بِأَرْضِ الْعِرَاقِ، عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ لَتُخْبِرَنِّي، فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ: أَنَا أَبُو حَسَنٍ إِنْ لَمْ يَأْتِ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ فَلْيُعْطَ بِرُمَّتِهِ
