I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the minbar, with al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) beside him. He would turn to the people at times and to him at times, and say: "This son of mine is a leader (sayyid), and perhaps Allah will reconcile through him two groups of the Muslims."

  • Bazzār

machine translationThis ḥadīth has been narrated from Abū Bakrah and from Jābir. The ḥadīth of Abū Bakrah is better known and has a better chain of transmission, while the ḥadīth of Jābir is rare (gharīb).

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Nahrawānī, who is well known and unobjectionable, narrated it from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from Ayyūb, from al-Ḥasan, but he erred in it. Rather, Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Abū Mūsā Isrāʾīl, from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Bakrah. Likewise Yūnus, Manṣūr and ʿAmr b. ʿUbayd narrated it from al-Ḥasan, and that is the established version.
