Umm Ḥabībah bint Jaḥsh suffered from istiḥāḍah (irregular bleeding), so she asked the Prophet ﷺ. He commanded her to wait for the days of her menstrual periods, then to wash and pray. Then if she saw anything after that, she should perform ablution, fasten a cloth around herself, pad herself, and pray.

- Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī
machine translationHishām al-Dastuwāʾī contradicted him, meaning Ḥusayn: he transmitted it as a mursal report from Yaḥyā, from Umm Salamah, that Umm Ḥabībah... And al-Awzāʿī narrated it from Yaḥyā, and made the woman with istiḥāḍah Zaynab, and said that she used to observe iʿtikāf with the Prophet ﷺ while she was shedding blood. He said: It is narrated by another route from ʿIkrimah, contrary to this, that it was Umm Ḥabībah, and it is disconnected (munqaṭiʿ).

machine translationIt appears that it is a mursal report.

machine translationThis too is disconnected (munqaṭiʿ), closer than the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah in the chapter on ghusl, and the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah, by the route established from her, is more deserving of being sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
