The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the blood money (ʿaql) for a woman is shared among her paternal relatives (ʿaṣabah), whoever they may be, though they inherit nothing from her except what is left over after her heirs. And if she is killed, her blood money goes to her heirs, and they may kill her killer.
