A Bedouin from Banū Fazārah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "My wife has given birth to a black boy." The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Do you have any camels?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What colour are they?" He said: "Red." He said: "Is there any dusky one among them?" He said: "Among them there are indeed dusky ones." He said: "Then how did that come to them?" He said: "Perhaps a strain (ʿirq) drew it out." The Prophet ﷺ said: "And this one, perhaps a strain drew it out." (This is the wording of the hadith of al-Shāfiʿī. In the narration of Qutaybah: A man from Banū Fazārah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "Perhaps a strain drew it out."
