"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter the bathhouse except with a waist-wrapper. And whoever of your women believes in Allah and the Last Day, let her not enter the bathhouse." He said: This reached ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ؓ during his caliphate, so he wrote to Abū Bakr b. ʿAmr b. Ḥazm: Ask Muḥammad b. Thābit about his hadith, for he is satisfactory. So he asked him, then wrote to ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, and ʿUmar prohibited women from the bathhouse.

والذي عندي والله أعلم أن الأصح على ما رواه ابن وهب عن يحيى بن أيوب عن يعقوب عن محمد بن ثابت عن عبد الله بن يزيد الخطمي عن أبي أيوب

machine translationWhat I hold, and Allah knows best, is that the most authentic (aṣaḥḥ) version is what Ibn Wahb narrated from Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb, from Yaʿqūb, from Muḥammad b. Thābit, from ʿAbdullāh b. Yazīd al-Khaṭmī, from Abū Ayyūb.
