The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to visit Umm Ayman, and I went with him. She brought him a drink, but either he was fasting or he did not want it, so he refused it, and she turned upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, raising her voice at him. After the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abū Bakr ؓ said to ʿUmar ؓ: "Let us go to Umm Ayman to visit her." When we reached her, she wept. They said to her: "What makes you weep? What is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." She said: "By Allah, I do not weep because I do not know that what is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but I weep because the revelation has been cut off from the heavens." So she stirred them to weep, and they began to weep.
