( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَنْبَأَ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
مَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ ؓ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ، وَتَرَكْتَنَا، وَإِنَّمَا نَحْنُ وَهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّمَا بَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ وَبَنُو هَاشِمٍ شَيْءٌ وَاحِدٌ

رواه الزهري عن سعيد غير واحد وهو الصواب وقد روي عن الزهري عن محمد بن جبير عن أبيه وحديث سعيد أصح ولا يحفظ هذا اللفظ عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا من رواية جبير بن مطعم

Jubayr from his father, but the hadith of Saʿīd is more sound. This wording is not preserved from the Prophet ﷺ except through the narration of Jubayr b. Muṭʿim.
