When we were in Syria, I brought ʿUmar some water and he performed ablution with it. He said: "Where did you get this from?" I had never seen well water or rain water better than it. He said: I said: "From the house of this old Christian woman." When he had finished his ablution, he went to her and said: "O old woman, accept Islam and you will be safe. Allah has sent Muḥammad ﷺ with the truth." He said: She uncovered her head, and it was like the thaghāmah plant (white). She said: "And am I to die now?" He said: ʿUmar said: "O Allah, bear witness."
