Al-Zubayr disputed with a man from the Anṣār about the irrigation channels of the lava field (al-Ḥarrah). The Prophet ﷺ said: "Irrigate, O Zubayr, then send the water to your neighbour." The Anṣārī said: "O Messenger of Allah, because he is the son of your paternal aunt?" The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed colour, then he said: "Irrigate, O Zubayr, then hold back the water until it returns to the wall, then send the water to your neighbour." He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave al-Zubayr his full right in a explicit judgement when the Anṣārī angered him, whereas before that he had advised both of them to a course in which there was leeway for them. Al-Zubayr said: "I think this verse was revealed only about that: ﴿فَلا وَرَبِّكَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّى يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ﴾"
