Abū Bakr (may God be pleased with him) had a slave who used to pay him a daily tribute (kharāj), and Abū Bakr used to eat from his tribute. One day he brought something, and Abū Bakr ate from it. The slave said to him: "Do you know what this is?" Abū Bakr said: "What is it?" He said: "I practised soothsaying for a person in the Pre-Islamic Era, and I was not skilled at soothsaying; rather I deceived him. Then he met me and gave me this for it, and this is what you have eaten from." So Abū Bakr put his hand in his mouth and vomited everything in his stomach.
