That his father was killed as a martyr on the day of Uḥud, and he owed a debt, and the creditors became harsh in demanding their rights. Jābir said: So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and spoke to him, and he asked them to accept the fruit of my orchard and to absolve my father, but they refused. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not give them my orchard, and he did not cut it down for them, but he said: "I will come to you early in the morning." Then he came to us when morning came, and he walked around among the palm trees and supplicated for blessing in their fruit. He said: So I harvested them, and I paid them their rights, and a remainder of its fruit was left for us. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to ʿUmar, while he was sitting: "Listen, ʿUmar, to what he says." ʿUmar ؓ said: We already knew that you are His Messenger, and by Allah, you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.
