I said to ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ: "We are in a land in which there is no gold or silver. May we sell one cow for two cows, one camel for two camels, and one sheep for two sheep?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to equip an army, but the camels ran out. So I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the camels have run out.' He said: 'Take against the young camels of the charity (qilāṣ al-ṣadaqah).'" He said: "So I began to take one camel in exchange for two camels, to be added to the charity camels."
