حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ

لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ عَلَيْكُمُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ

Translation

  4. Abū Hurayrah
  5. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ The poor person is not the one who goes around among you and is turned away by a morsel or two; rather, the poor person is the one who refrains from asking.
